Hospital executives meet with the design team

The Public Space Network Diagram is a fine-grained inventory of gaps in the public realm network that looks at a six-by-twelve block area surrounding a large auto-oriented institution. At the opening night Hands-On Workshop, this area was labeled “Dead Zone,” along Michigan Avenue and described as “a barrier,” with empty storefronts and parking lots between the building and the street. The institution, a hospital, is a willing partner in the Charrette and is interested in looking at a new way to create a high quality prominent address.
